Abuse?

So my sister in Christ and best friend said to me today "It was easier being homemaker at home and being abused everyday." She feels very defeated and frustrated during this, her third, semester of college. God has her getting an education. She feels that he has her in school to learn all she can and eventually use her to minister others in some way, in women's ministries. She is starting to question that now because it is such a struggle for her. It is tough handling college, raising kids, running a household, and doing all the mom things mom's do. (I have a new appreciation for moms since her kids now live under my roof, I'm serious. I really don't see how moms do it! This explains why I am still single and NOT THE MOMMA!) I know her deepest desire is to glorify God and to do His will, and I believe she is right where God wants her. In a healthy functioning church, getting an education, and raising wonderful, Godly kids. I asked her how after all her years as a Christian she expected it to be an easy thing to go to school simply because God wants her to? Doing God's will is not necessarily an easy thing. Katie knows that first hand at the moment! I feel so helpless and that frustrates me. I wish I could do more. All I can do is lift her up in prayer and offer words of encouragement. Problem is, compassion isn't my spiritual gift and sometimes my words are less than encouraging. If you are reading this, and are an encourager appointed by God, please email Katie a happy note!

I've been listening to this new band called Daily Planet. I think it is the best new Christian band CD out this year and can't get enough of it. I think it will start showing up on CCM radio soon and I read a newsletter that some TV show is using the first track off the album "Flying Blind" as it's theme song. The show is TruthQuest: California, a FamilyNet Television based reality show. I have no clue what that is because I don't do tv.

All I listen to is Christian music anymore. The only time I hear secular stuff is at work, and when I pick the music to play...most of it is Christian anyway! If it's not music I'm listening to talk radio or a book on CD. Right now I'm listening to Hank Hanegraff's "The Prayer of Jesus" book on CD while I drive. I'm enjoying it too!

You won't believe what I just did this evening. I can hardly believe it myself! I helped Katie's 9 year old, earn a "homemaker" badge for Homemaker's, a girls club she is involved with at church. Today, she earned her baking badge. Yep! That's what I said...baking badge. It is true, Tiffany made some awesome chocolate chip cookies under my supervision. By hand. And no I did not show her how to sqeeze the dough out of a can onto a baking sheet!

If you don't know me, know this...my name is Sue, NOT SUSIE HOMEMAKER! I do not do the normal cooking, cleaning, baking things, so the baking badge is a triumph for me too!

Why doesn't wax paper burn in the oven?

I've had two days off in a row and have enjoyed them. Got some work done around the house today with mowing the lawn and doing some minor cleaning. I even had time left over to play on the computer. I love my computer!

Well, that's all for now. I need to get caught up in my New Testament Survey class because I missed it last Sunday. Got the notes from someone...now it's time to study!

Ok..yay...there it is. I thought it was lost in cyberspace there for a minute. Where exactly is cyberspace? Really? When things are sent...and they never arrive, where do they go?

Well, I'm blogging in between chores. Mowed the front lawn...I think I'll let the boy do the back or I will be going against my own wish for him to do it. I want to do it, but that kid has to learn to do some chores around here. It's kind of a compromise I guess. Well, I'm off to clean up my room in which I was awakened to the sound of a glass lamp crashing to the floor this morning when my roomie tried to unplug and find the hairdryer in the dark.

I'm not sleeping!

I hate this. I didn't sleep well last night. Tonight? Well, tonight I took a couple of sleeping pills and I am wide awake surfing the net and blogging. What's the deal? I should be doubled over the keyboard snoring! Instead, I'm waiting for my Cinnamon Pop Tarts to pop. Not a good thing to eat before going to sleep, but it sure sounded good. I will pay later with heartburn so bad that the fire alarms might be triggered.

Well, they haven't popped yet. Hmmmmmmmm? Oh brother! The toaster wasn't plugged in! Ok, in a few I should smell the sweet aroma filling the air. Much better smell than the "moist" air smell in my bedroom from my water leakage trouble.

Well, what has God done for me this day? Today He reaffirmed the fact that I am at my place of employment for a reason. I am to be a witness. Today I reaffirmed that I need a lot of work in that area! OMG! Toaster just popped and I almost pooped! Scared me half to death! Whew...calm down...it was a toaster Sue! Not a sniper! BRB...

....

Ok, today God may be using me to edify the church. Chuck, my pastor called me and wondered if I'd help out on the church website. It needs to be updated badly! I wanted to help out on it and tried to contact staff to get stuff and pics together, but it was like pulling teeth! AAAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHHH! I shouldn't use that terminology so soon after a root canal! Anyway, hopefully we can get organized and update the site so that the church can be better informed, as well as the community. I know a lot of people aren't into websites like I am, but I figure if you are gonna have one, it should be a good one.

I am so blessed. I talked to my mom tonight and I am blessed because we talk online almost every night. At least for a few minutes. I love my mom. It is so cool how we can share every day. I may only get to see her once or twice a year, but I never go very long without catching up on the daily happenings. She reminded me today that grandma's birthday is Saturday. Guess I'll be going to Walmart tomorrow for a card! I'm bad at card giving...at least card giving that is ontime!

YUM! My poptarts are goooooooooooood!

Well, that's about it for now. Sure wish the drugs would kick in! I need some sleep!

Another Day

Haven't blogged in a few. Meant to, but instead I found myself surfing. I love to surf. No particular place to go, I just travel all around the WWW. I don't know why it intrigues me, maybe it's just a control thing. I can control where I go. I like to control where I go.

I am getting caught up at work. Slowly, but steadily. Have a new person starting today. I hope he is good. Why is it so hard to find great employees? It shouldn't be this hard. It is.

Got an email from a sister in Christ yesterday that I haven't heard from in awhile. Today I am rejoicing because of it, for a couple of reasons. Reason #1 - She had fallen away, but now she's back! Wooooohooooooooo!!! God always calls us back home! I love that about Him! We can turn our backs on Him, but when we turn around, even to peek over our shoulder, the loving eyes of our Father are staring right back into ours. His arms are outstretched, reaching toward us. He wants us close to His heart. It is where He created us to be. I praise God that he called her, she listened and came home! Reason #2 - I missed her! I hope we do a better job of staying in touch.

My tooth is healing. The root canal was rather a painless procedure, gotta love modern technology! It was uncomfortable, but anytime someone is drilling a hole in the middle of your tooth to scrape out nerves in the root, it's not gonna be fun. I had some soreness from the shots in the roof of my mouth, but ibuprofen takes care of that. Drugs are our friends.

At SaLT group last night we started a new study on praise and worship. I love SaLT group. I was kind of out of sorts though, had lots on my mind. Twice I read the wrong scriptures! TWICE! It was for the same scripture reference too! I gave up after that. I hate that I'm turning stupid! Anyway, today I decided to put on the garment of praise. I choose to worship Christ today. I choose to hold my thoughts captive to Christ. I will leave for work in a few minutes and pray He will help me be a good witness. That I will allow His light to shine. I may be the only contact some people at the mall will have with Christ today. That's a pretty important job! We, as believers, should be more mindful of that don't you think? Everytime we walk into a room, Christ enters that room!

Blessings to you this day!

-Sue
