This page tells about some of our interests in music and the arts in
general.
Sue and Katie are both involved in many different musical ensembles and other "artsy" projects. We will showcase some of that here.

KatieKatie is a thespian, poet, artist and singer. During the summer of 2004 she had a supporting role in the
Jackson Theatre Guild's production of
My Fair Lady, and played Sister Sophia in the
Nite Lite Theater's production of the
Sound of Music in spring 2006.

Katie also will uses her thespian talents
to glorify God on Sunday mornings on occasion when called upon as part of the drama team.

Katie is a singer and loves to sing praises to the Lord. She has a passion to worship Him and enjoys every
opportunity she can get to lead others in worship. She is also currently relearning to play the keyboard, after having studied organ as a child. She is a bit rusty, and the
keys are a bit dusty!

In order to earn her associates degree from Jackson State University, Katie opted to take an art class as an elective. She
discovered a hidden talent...painting.
Freedom from CaptivityThis
painting is a "self-portrait" of Katie. She says it shows how she is now free from the cocoon of a life she lived in for many years as a victim of domestic abuse.

Sue
Sue is a musician and plays the trumpet. She plays in the
Jackson Area
Community Band and the Lambuth Brass Choir. She does manage to get some gigs with various other ensembles on occasion, including a brass quintet (I'm pictured
on the right next to the tuba player), the
Jackson Symphony Orchestra, which is a very special privilege for her, and has also played as
part of an orchestra for the "Night of Praise" at
Englewood Baptist Church.
She has had to opportunity to play with the
Marshalltown Municipal Band for Vice President Al Gore when he visited Marshalltown, IA on Veteran's Day in 1999. The experience with the Secret Service was quite
memorable for Sue, and it was one of those "once in a lifetime moments". She proudly states "I've played for the Vice President of the United States!"

In the August
2004, Sue had another one of those "once in a lifetime moments" when she performed "Ring of Fire" with the Johnny Cash Band at the Rockabilly Hall of Fame in Jackson,
TN. It was the first time the Tennessee Three had played together since the "Man in Black" has passed away, so it was truly an exciting time!

This is a picture of the "Night of Praise" at Englewood Baptist Church. It is a full orchestra and choir...the works! Katie and I are both
in this picture, and I bet you can't find us!

We aren't the only talented ones in the house! Katie's children are also musicians/thespians. Tiffany loves to sing NON-STOP and
Justin is a percussionist.

Last fall Justin was honored with membership in the Quad-State Band, pictured (left) at Murray State University
in Kentucky.
Tiffany (right) has performed in a few theater productions, including
Annie and
The Sound of Music with her mom.
